Can you tell us a bit about your journey with Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives?
I started working at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives almost 20 years ago. From the very beginning, this resort has felt like my family, and the sense of teamwork here is something I truly value. It’s not just about the job; it’s about the people I work with and the guests I have the pleasure of meeting every day. Over the years, I have been proud to take on the role of a pool attendant and have found joy in going beyond my duties to create special memories for our guests.
What inspired you to start creating flowers and decorations for the guests?
During my free time, I discovered a passion for creating flowers and decorations as a hobby. It started out as a way to make use of my spare moments, but when I saw the joy and surprise on the guests’ faces, it quickly became something much more meaningful to me. Their smiles and heartfelt reactions motivate me to keep going, reminding me that these little gestures can make a big impact and create special memories that last long after they leave.
What materials do you use for your flower decorations?
I use natural flowers sourced directly from the resort’s own garden. My mornings start early, well before 6 a.m., so I can handpick the freshest blooms and ensure they remain vibrant throughout the day. After I finish my pool cleaning duties, I devote my time to crafting garlands, bouquets, and other special decorations. These creations are meant for moments that matter—whether it’s a guest’s birthday, anniversary, or a private marquee dinner—adding a personal touch that makes the experience even more memorable
How do guests typically react when they receive your handmade gifts?
I’m always touched when guests come to Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives specifically asking for me after reading reviews or hearing stories about my decorations. It’s incredibly motivating to know that my efforts have made such a positive impact. Seeing their joy and knowing that I’ve contributed to their memorable experience keeps me inspired to continue bringing that little extra touch of happiness to their stay.
Why do you think small gestures like these are important for the guest experience?
I believe that it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. For many guests, visiting the Maldives is the fulfillment of a long-held dream, and I want to be a part of making their experience even more special. My purpose extends beyond simply maintaining the pool, it’s about creating moments that enhance their stay. Seeing their smiles and knowing that I’ve contributed to their happiness brings me immense joy and a true sense of purpose in what I do.
