Sun Travels has announced a renewed brand identity and a redesigned digital booking platform, marking a significant development in the company’s 35-year history. The launch took place on November 27, 2025, at Sun Siyam Olhuveli and was led by Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director Ahmed Siyam Mohamed. The event brought together company leaders, partners, and invited media.
Background and Early History
Sun Travels’ evolution is closely connected to the early experiences of its founder. Mohamed began his career on the island of Kudafari, working in multiple operational and administrative roles within the tourism sector, including receptionist, billing clerk, storekeeper, reservations executive, and marketing manager.
In 1990, he established Sun Travels & Tours with USD 900 in savings and no external financial backing. Over the following decades, the company expanded into a large hospitality group operating multiple resorts with an international network of travel partners.
Launch of a New Digital Platform
A key component of the company’s transformation is the introduction of a rebuilt digital platform powered by a Juniper booking engine. According to Sun Travels, the system offers improvements in processing speed, reliability, and booking functionality. It supports real-time availability, supplier integrations, instant confirmations, dynamic contracting, and updated tools for both partners and suppliers.
The platform is designed to handle a wide range of travel products, including accommodation, transfers, excursions, diving, flight components, holiday bundles, and services from independent providers.
The company states that the platform also includes features aimed at supporting suppliers through improved visibility, promotional options, and reporting capabilities.
Updated Brand Identity
Sun Travels has also introduced a revised brand identity reflecting its shift toward technology-focused operations and international growth. The new visual system focuses on adaptability and clarity, aligning with the company’s plans for continued digital and operational development.
Leadership Remarks
CEO Deepak Booneady noted that the transformation combines new technology with long-standing organisational values.
Director of Sales & Marketing Nina Nizar highlighted that the updated platform and identity are intended to support stronger collaboration with partners through enhanced tools and a more consistent brand experience.
