Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) and Public Service Media (PSM) have entered into a partnership to strengthen Creatoll, the digital marketplace for Maldivian creative content, through the integration of PSM’s extensive audiovisual archives and media resources.
The collaboration brings together Visit Maldives Corporation’s destination marketing expertise and Public Service Media’s position as the nation’s leading broadcaster and custodian of the country’s largest collection of audiovisual content, creating an even more comprehensive platform for Maldivian visual, cultural and creative assets.
The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, and Ahmed Shakeeb, Managing Director of Public Service Media.
Through this partnership, PSM will contribute selected archival and contemporary media assets to Creatoll, including photography, documentaries, historical footage, interviews and cultural documentation. These materials, many of which capture decades of Maldivian history, heritage and island life, will be organised and made accessible through a dedicated digital marketplace designed to connect creators and content owners with users and buyers seeking authentic Maldivian content.
Commenting on the partnership, Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, said:
“Creatoll was established with the vision of creating a home for Maldivian creativity and a platform that allows our stories to reach audiences around the world. With PSM joining the platform and contributing from its vast audiovisual archives, Creatoll takes a major step forward in becoming the largest and most comprehensive repository and marketplace for Maldivian content. This partnership not only preserves valuable national assets, but also creates new opportunities for creators, marketers, filmmakers, researchers and businesses to discover, curate and license authentic Maldivian stories.”
Ahmed Shakeeb, Managing Director of Public Service Media, said:
“As the national broadcaster, PSM has documented the Maldives and its people for generations. Our archives contain invaluable visual records of the country’s history, culture and development. Through this collaboration with Visit Maldives Corporation, we are ensuring that these assets are not only preserved, but are also given new life and wider reach through Creatoll. We believe this partnership will benefit creators, institutions and industries that rely on authentic Maldivian content while supporting the growth of the country’s creative economy.”
In addition to contributing content, PSM will support the promotion of Creatoll through its media channels and collaborate with VMC on initiatives encouraging the documentation and sharing of Maldivian culture, traditions, heritage and contemporary experiences.
VMC will continue to manage and develop the platform, including content organisation, licensing processes and marketplace operations, ensuring that Creatoll remains a dynamic and continuously evolving ecosystem for Maldivian creative assets.
Creatoll will officially begin serving consumers and businesses during a ceremony to be held on Monday, 29 June, at Television Maldives, officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Mohamed Ameen.
