Visit Maldives is participating in TTG Travel Experience 2026, taking place from 14 to 16 October in Rimini, Italy, as part of its continued efforts to strengthen the Maldives’ presence in one of its longest-standing and most important European source markets.
A total of 48 industry representatives from 24 companies are participating at TTG Travel Experience under the Visit Maldives umbrella. The delegation will engage with Italian travel trade partners, stakeholders, marketing and media agencies through meetings and networking opportunities throughout the three-day event.
The event provides an important platform for destination representatives and international travel professionals to establish partnerships, exchange market insights and explore new business opportunities.
“Italy has a longstanding connection with the Maldives, and our focus is to build on that relationship by introducing more travellers to the breadth of experiences our destination has to offer. TTG Travel Experience gives us an important opportunity to engage directly with Italian travel partners, explore new avenues for collaboration and present a broader picture of the Maldives to the market. Through continued engagement with our partners, we aim to sustain interest in the destination and create new opportunities for growth,” stated Abdulla Yasir, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation.
Through its participation at TTG Travel Experience, Visit Maldives aims to strengthen relationships with key travel trade partners, enhance destination awareness and provide the Italian market with the latest information on the Maldives and its diverse tourism offerings. The event also provides a platform for participating industry partners to present their latest products, properties and experiences directly to travel professionals. The Maldives is being showcased through a 96-square-metre stand, designed to reflect the destination’s distinctive experiences and natural beauty.
Visit Maldives has also undertaken targeted activities in the Italian market throughout 2026, including a media familiarisation trip in collaboration with Alpitour and a joint marketing campaign with Sporting Vacanze. Participation at TTG Travel Experience forms part of these continued efforts to deepen market engagement and support sustained growth from Italy.
Italy holds a special place in the history of Maldivian tourism, being one of the destination’s oldest and most traditional source markets. Italian travellers were among the first international visitors to discover the Maldives as a tourism destination, establishing a longstanding connection between the two markets that continues today.
As of 12th October 2026, the Maldives has welcomed 100,779 Italian visitors, making Italy the fifth-largest source market for the destination. The continued performance of the market highlights the importance of maintaining strong relationships with Italian travel trade partners and keeping the Maldives top of mind among Italian travellers.
