
Canareef Resort Maldives is proud to spotlight the remarkable journey of Deepak Kannan, our Assistant General Manager, whose hospitality career spans over two decades across some of the world’s most renowned hotel brands and destinations.
Deepak’s story begins in the year 2000, when he stepped into the world of hospitality as a Front Office Agent with Radisson Hotels. Driven by curiosity and a genuine passion for guest service, he soon found himself in the heart of luxury, working with the iconic Burj Al Arab by Jumeirah in Dubai as a Guest Service Executive – a landmark property known for setting the gold standard in global luxury.
His next chapter unfolded with the IHG Crowne Plaza brand, where Deepak dedicated an impressive 14 years, rising through the ranks from Front Office Shift Leader to Front Office Manager across various Emirates in the UAE and later spending two years in Oman. These years served as the cornerstone of his leadership style – blending operational excellence with an intuitive understanding of guest expectations.
In 2018, Deepak took on his first Hotel Manager role with Bin Majid Hotels and Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, where he was instrumental in driving team performance and enhancing guest experiences. He further honed his strategic and people-focused leadership during General Manager tenures at Excelsior Downtown Dubai and Platinum Coast Hotel in Fujairah.
With his deep expertise, he was also called upon in 2021 to serve as a Hospitality Consultant for a major convention center in Chennai, India, where he helped set up their rooms division and operational framework – showcasing his versatile skill set beyond hotel environments.
Today, at Canareef Resort Maldives, Deepak brings with him a global mindset, operational know-how, and a deep-rooted commitment to team empowerment. He envisions a future where the resort thrives not only through its natural beauty but also through a unified, people first culture.
