Reethi Faru Resort marked Earth Hour 2026 on Saturday, 28 March, joining participants around the world in the annual initiative to raise awareness of environmental sustainability. This year’s event, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour, was held under the theme “Create the Biggest Hour for Earth”, encouraging individuals and communities to take part in practical environmental actions.
As part of the day’s activities, guests and team members took part in coral planting, contributing to ongoing efforts to support the preservation and restoration of local reefs. The activity formed part of the resort’s broader approach to marine conservation and sustainable operations.
Participants also gathered on the beach to form the number 60, marking the 60 minutes of Earth Hour. The display served as a visual reminder of the initiative and its message of collective action.
Between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm, lights were dimmed and non-essential equipment was switched off across the resort to reduce energy use, while maintaining necessary services for guests.
Following the hour, guests gathered for a low-key evening on the beach, which included a film screening and a small bonfire.
The event was used as an opportunity to encourage greater awareness of environmental issues and to involve both guests and staff in simple, practical actions. Reethi Faru Resort continues to incorporate sustainability measures into its operations, including marine conservation and community-focused initiatives.
