Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) concluded an E-learning course with FVW Akademie in May 2020. As part of the targeted marketing activities to the German-speaking countries, MMPRC launched this E-learning course to educate the travel agents and to encourage them to sell Maldives. The six month long course was launched in December 2019.
FVW is Germany’s largest travel trade magazine and FVW Akademie is an independent one-stop source platform that provides education and further training in tourism for travel professionals. The online portal offers a unique mix of e-learning on destinations and product training targeting sales professionals. The Maldives’ E-learning course was marketed in all the platforms of FVW.
During these six months, over 1300 participants were enrolled in the Maldives destination course, and the participation from the German speaking travel agents in the E-learning course reached its target. The highest number of participants graduated in the month of December 2019, April and in May 2020. To encourage the maximum participation a complimentary holiday raffle was sponsored by Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa. The course delivered extensive training about the Maldives resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards and various other segments.
Germany is one of the key traditional source markets to Maldives. Training the travel trade on Maldives was one of the key activities of MMPRC, apart from the many other marketing activities that were implemented in 2019. With its success, MMPRC forecast that it can help to increase the arrival from German speaking markets in future.
