Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) and Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen destination promotion and support tourism growth to the Maldives across key international markets.
The MoU was signed during Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 by Abdulla Yasir, CEO & Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, and Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Senior Vice President – Commercial Operations, WAIO, Emirates.
The signing was attended by Dr. Abdulla Niyaz, Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation; Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Maldives Corporation; Ahmed Farih Mohamed, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives in the United Arab Emirates; and Sabeeha Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer of Visit Maldives Corporation.
Through the MoU, VMC and Emirates will work together on destination marketing, travel trade engagement and promotional activities aimed at strengthening demand for the Maldives across mutually agreed markets. The collaboration will also support familiarisation initiatives, joint campaigns and engagement with travel trade partners across the Emirates network.
“Air connectivity and destination marketing need to work hand in hand if we are to create sustained tourism growth,” said Abdulla Yasir, CEO & Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation. “Our collaboration with Emirates gives us an opportunity to strengthen the Maldives’ presence across key markets while connecting our destination promotion more closely with one of the world’s major international aviation networks.”
Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Senior Vice President – Commercial Operations, WAIO, Emirates, said: “We are pleased to strengthen our collaboration with Visit Maldives Corporation and support the continued promotion of the Maldives across our network. Through joint marketing and travel trade initiatives, we look forward to creating greater awareness of the destination and supporting travel demand from key markets.”
The partnership forms part of VMC’s wider efforts to strengthen aviation and travel trade partnerships, expand the Maldives’ reach across international markets and support sustainable visitor growth through coordinated destination marketing.
